My friend is wanting to know if I would be interested in buying a Springfield he got in a trade. I have no idea what a fair price is to offer as I've never seen anything like it. Any help would be appreciated! I can get more pics if needed.

Most likely there's no gun smith markings on whom built it. Were it a top tier 'smith, the owner would've had paperwork with the gun when he traded it in, IMO.
Quite honestly, I'd say it was worth no more than a standard SA 1911 SS in used condition. Say $500-650, depending on condition & amount of rds thru it. Set up like it is, it would take forever to sell on the retail market. It would take someone whom really wanted this exact set-up, IMO. My .o2 |

Just no, and I'll tell you why.
The horrible fitting of the beavertail and the slapshod sight installation tell me all I need to know. This gun started life as a cheap Springfield stainless Milspec. The person that modded it is an amateur at best, and a butcher at worst. The shitty fitting of the beavertail tells me that any other mod is going to be equally shitty. I would be interested in seeing of the lugs are all peened to shit on that gun. If you can't fit a beavertail, you sure the hell can't fit a barrel. When that gun was new, it probably cost 600 or so. They are 700 now, and with that shit done to the gun, it's worth whatever parts can be salvaged from it. I'd personally pass on this, but if cheap enough would probably buy it and try to unfuck it. Worth... 3 something as butchered. |
