Filled in the space in two wasr's to get rid of mag wobble.  Has held steadfast for years.  Depending on the task, it's good stuff.

Way too much info here. Lol

It depends what you're using it on. Surface area applied on, how much stress is on the jb welded part etc. Its essentially just a strong epoxy, its not actually a ferrous material

Awesome stuff. I've used it to not only bed rifles but to restore broken things and make them whole again

There are different formulations, for different purposes.

I used it to bed a Ruger 10-22 worked great for that. I also fixed my old steel outboard motor fuel tank with it.

[#7]
Yes it's great for certain things!

It works great for me

[#9]
Yeah it works.

1985 CR125R.  The water pump cover / housing had broke and cracked. Formed a new piece with jb weld and was able to win the 125cc Supercross championship!!11!!

Ok, so I made up the part where I won a championship.

But it does work and I did fashion a 1/4 of a piece I needed.  It lasted for a couple years u til I sold the bike .

It's an epoxy.
It works for its intended uses

My brother had a Ford Fiesta a first gen one. It was modded to hell I the 80's. It ran high 14's iirc. That was insane in the 80's. He finally broke a piece in the front and it hit the transmission. Busted a fucking hole in it. Like a dumbass he maxed his fucking credit card out at age 22 and could not afford to fix that.

So he used JB weld and a piece of wood board to fill the hole in the trans. It worked long enough for a trade in.

used with a little intelligence/common sense its good stuff to have around
4/2/2017 12:28:47 AM EDT

Works great for rc drones and things for me. I'm sure you could be creative with it and use it for tons of other stuff.

I'm a welder.  You bring me something that you tried to fix with that shit and it's going to cost you extra for me to clean that garbage off so I can fix it right.

Certain GM division had a service bulletin to fix pinholes in engine blocks from Dexcool, the recommended fix was JB weld or the high priced GM part number.

Racing Karts, used it patch holes when you threw a rod through the block, also used to reshape the valve ports. Works great for some things.

Somewhere in Arkansas the coolant tank on my 1990 Suburban (RIP) popped a leak.

As it was Arkansas I found a Walmart pretty quickly. With Sandpaper and JB Weld the patch held up for at least 10k more miles.

I use it a lot, good stuff, very strong.

This right here it may work but to fix it right and weld it you must pay again..........
<<<<<<<<<<<<TiG welding don't like no epoxy shit

I fixed a hole in a old  car's gas tank with it and when I sold the car a couple years later it was still holding gas. I have an old tractor that was getting big rust flakes and other crap from the bottom of the tank down into the fuel line and stopping it up. I drilled several small holes in a piece of stainless tubing and JB Welded it in the fuel fitting so the crap off the bottom of the tank didn't get sucked in the fuel line. It's still there 13, 14 years later.

I used often but those two stand out as not only were they holding years later, they held all that time in gas.

Use it all the time.  Good for the "oops" moments in 80% lowers. Got to let it dry for 24 hours. Gluing is not its greates quality.

Allowed to set up longer than the directions suggest, J&B Weld is magic. I think you could build a fully functional engine block out of it. I have never known it to fail at anything if allowed to cure long enough.

Like the customer I had two days ago for an oil change, and her drain plug was held in by it?

Previous oil change was done at another shop, they glopped the plug threads up and pushed the plug in. She came to me, didn't mention it(probably didn't know). I put a wrench on the plug, broke the JB, and the plug just fell out.

Ten or fifteen years ago there was a plaque over the Support service counter of the 4th Aircraft Maintenance Unit that displayed an AC-130U model hydraulic line a (very former) aircraft mechanic had fixed with JB Weld. Story was the aircraft had flown several times with that repair...

i repaired the condensation tray in my old home's HVAC

saved me thousands because the part was no longer made an the system was a scarce size to fit in a very small space

is high temperature epoxy a good thing?

of course it is, provided that you aren't a dumbass
4/2/2017 9:13:07 AM EDT
[#28]
As in other examples, it is a good "filler" that will bond permanently if the surfaces are prepared properly. It is NOT a "weld" despite the name and will only efeectively bond two pieces if there is a mechanical connection as well. Also, it Should not be subjected to high stress so don't use it to try to repair items like a cracked receiver or damaged chamber.

I have used it with great success to fill the void between SxS barrels after cutting them down to CoachGun configuration and to repair original Cobray m9/11 magazine feed lips. I also used it to fix a stripped action to stock bolt connection. It has held up solid but I don't think I could ever remove the stock from the action again without redoing it.

It has it's uses but is not a fix-all for everything.

I used it to glue a penny to a metal barrier outside my dorm in the air force.  Smacked it with a hammer, tried chiseling it off, fucker wouldn't move til I heated it with a butane torch and smacked it.

Honda has a part number for jb weld to fix their v6 engines.

I punched a hole in the side of a transmission once and used JB Weld to fix it. Drove that car with the JB Welded transmission for two more years. I'd say it works.

Made a stove base into a coffee table with casters, I used the stuff to epoxy the oak blocks onto legs

and attach the casters still going strong after 30 years

Did you rethread or just replace the whole oil pan?
4/2/2017 9:50:37 AM EDT
[#35]
I try not to use it on anything mission-critical or life supporting, but otherwise it's some great shit.

I've heard "Do not use it for tooth filling" because certain chemicals leach out of it and run down the back of the throat.

...IS THIS REALLY  A PROBLEM?
4/2/2017 9:52:43 AM EDT

I used it to fix one of the knobs on my macro rail. Seems to get the job done well enough, the part isn't exactly under stress though.

The pump likes to rub a hole into the side of certain GM transfer cases.  Patched it up with JB, must have been 80,000 miles ago by now. still no leaks.

I've used it for rifle bedding, fixing the exhaust manifold on a boat, and plugging a hole in a transmission oil pan. Works fine for me.

I used it to plug a hole in a gas tank, ( lasted me for 5 years till I sold the vehicle )

I also used it to patch a hole in a radiator, ( worked great until I sold vehicle a year later )

jb weld is pretty good stuff.

When i was a benz mechanic.  I saw a JB Welded engine block on an 80's 380 se.  The owner even painted the engine block and JB to mach his exterior paint.  Engine ran fine and was dry.

My FIL has several old tractors he has restored. They all run and will actually do farm chores. He buys JB by the case to use on those old work horses.

When I was young and dumb I snapped 2 out of 3 bolts replacing an exhaust downpipe.

JB weld and vise grips fixed it for a few years till I junked it for unrelated issues.

Yes, I made sure to get my Grandfather's vise grips off before I junked it.

I was 18 and patched a water manifold on my budget ski boat. Right side manifold on the 1978 305 Chevy engine had rusted through at the corner. I ground it down to clean steel in the boat and the JB glob patch held for 10 years!
Ever since then JB weld has been good in my book.

Timely thread, I just used some JB a few minutes ago on a cast pin that was broke. It was only being used to plug a hole so it should work just fine as there is no stress on it.
It beat me looking hither and yon for something of like size to replace it or to fashion another pin.

JB also works great to repair pin holes in old metal oil lanterns. I use one cat-fishing that I repaired some pin holes in the tank 20 years ago and it does not leak to this day. I've repaired many a old lantern that way.

If you put a blob of it on your AR's dust cover you will be inventing the greatest AR modification known to man, for determining an out of battery condition. It's SO revolutionary Eugene Stoner should have thought of it himself. But be careful it maybe patent pending and you could be infringing.
