Did a couple of Glock grips with 3M safety tape way back when; one in silicon carbide (black) and the other textured soft plastic (grey).
The silicon carbide keeps its "bite" and feels really good in all conditions BUT if you really carry and use the gun over time that surface will eat everything it touches and will drop little pieces of grit that can embed into your holster and will cut through even the finish on a Glock. If you wear a ring on your dominant hand it will eat that too. Edit: Conjecture, but considering tape of this sort has lasted me ~15yrs and many thousands of rounds I have to think that if you use a suitable adhesive that grit would be essentially permanent. |

*Retarded post* Like all sandpaper, doesn't it eventually wear down over time with use? I have talon grips and replace them every year. |

I used skateboard tape on my Berettas' back and front straps.
The adhesive wasn't that great so I used super glue and made it a point that the ends would be under the grip panels. I figured that if I ever wanted to sell them, acetone would dissolve the super glue and the frame would be returned to its original appearance. |
