I have a MOE grip on an AR treated with it and it's nice. I'll probably do the same to my Glock.

In a sense.

Apply epoxy to the surface of what you want textured, dust on silicon carbide (sandpaper minus the paper), let cure.

What grit? Seems 60-80 is the sweet spot, but I'm not sure which is ideal for range/comp use.

I'm not sure. It's pretty course. I bought it already created but I'll buy a kit next.

*Retarded post*

Like all sandpaper, doesn't it eventually wear down over time with use? I have talon grips and replace them every year.

My post. (or both )

Genuinely curious if you have to strip the frame and reapply.

Did a couple of Glock grips with 3M safety tape way back when; one in silicon carbide (black) and the other textured soft plastic (grey).

The silicon carbide keeps its "bite" and feels really good in all conditions BUT if you really carry and use the gun over time that surface will eat everything it touches and will drop little pieces of grit that can embed into your holster and will cut through even the finish on a Glock.  If you wear a ring on your dominant hand it will eat that too.

Edit:
Conjecture, but considering tape of this sort has lasted me ~15yrs and many thousands of rounds I have to think that if you use a suitable adhesive that grit would be essentially permanent.

That certainly looks infinitely better than any stippling I've ever seen.  How's it feel on your skin after carrying IWB all day?

What are you doing to your Talon Grips to wear them down so fast?  Mine have lasted years, and thousands of rounds.  I just bush the dead skin out with a little soapy water, now and then, and they are like new.

I used skateboard tape on my Berettas' back and front straps.

The adhesive wasn't that great so I used super glue and made it a point that the ends would be under the grip panels.

I figured that if I ever wanted to sell them, acetone would dissolve the super glue and the  frame would be returned to its original appearance.

I put a talon rubber grip on an M&P and didn't care for it.  Luckily I kept the peel off backer.  I just photocopied the backer for a template and cut my own grip wrap out of 3M safety tape.  When that wears out I will do the epoxy and grit.

I did that to my STI Limited gun.  Did it myself, found the sand paper i liked, cut a template and shaved all the plastic checkering off, cleaned it, stuck it on.  Been that way for over 5 years.  Don't buy the kits, DIY.
