Last night I was sat here on arf when I heard a Massive boom , sounded like a shotgun in the next garden .

I live about 5 miles away and it sounded like it was outside my house
Reports say it could be heard in north Wales .

Part of the building was a dance studio that was full of children a few hours before.

More than 30 injured and several homes destroyed.

If you smell gas , report it

Reminds me of the house explosion in Indianapolis that turned out to be from the owner trying to collect insurance.  Pretty crazy the extent of the damage.  They mention in the article houses 2 miles away that had their garage doors buckled from the blast.  That is a fuck ton of energy.  Sad it killed 2 neighbors and injured 12.  They stayed at a casino and had their daughter stay overnight at a friends house.  The even boarded the cat.  They used a microwave as a detonator.

We had a 'mystery' sonic boom out here in the desert a few weeks ago.
USAF and ANG said they didn't know anything about it.  Ahem

Luke Air Force Base is not far outside metro Phoenix, F-16s and F-35s go thundering overhead daily so it's possible that a stick jockey had a little 'oops' (ragged edge of transonic, atmospherics just right, etc).
We all thought it was pretty cool

Houses going boom... not cool

It's pretty common around here.

You'd be amazed at how loud the close ones are.

Rule of thumb:  if it doesn't knock you down, it wasn't "close".

Looks like natural gas.

Nothing else makes that -perfect- hollywood dispersal of belongings.

Hope nobody was hurt too bad.

The ejecta pattern is impressive. Look at those 2 houses behind the blast. Face full of house bits stabbed into both.

Little windex, good to go.
