Assholeish, yet entertaining concept:

| The guy that thought this up did so after watching YouTube vids of "scary" x-wind landings. That's all I needed to see. Netherlands guy came up with a retarded solution to a nonexistent problem after watching YouTube videos on something he knows nothing about. He should stick to smoking pot and housing refugees. |

Then there's the matter of wing strikes, maneuvering during a critical phase of flight, taxi distance, emergency services, multiple aircraft on the same runway, and a host of other issues
I'm not seeing a single positive side here aside from having a circular racetrack when the tardation gets shut down, but circular racetracks suck too

This isn't new, it's right out of the 1930's.
What was talked about 80 years ago still holds true today. As I recall that article, Written in the mid-1930's, what was talked about THEN is what that Gent talks about today. Crosswind and the ability to take off in ANY direction. Back then the Average airliner carried around 20 passengers. Today there are airliners that have nearly 20 crew. The idea is utterly impractical. |

My guess is he is spending a lot of government and grant monies researching this and is drawing a large pay as well.
Good for him and good for him not being in the US spending our tax $ "researching" this concept. Because if he was. President Trump would have told him this week the public sponsorship is over. |

So he gives them a circular runway with a headwind... the a crosswind... then a tailwind... then a crosswind...

So as you are going round and round speeding up or slowing down they wind is constantly changing direction? Where do I sign up? |

I'm a pilot.
That guy is an idiot. There is such a thing as an all way field - no 'runway', just a huge flat (grass) area - land whichever way you want. That doesn't work either, when there is more than one airplane around.
