We used to go on rat safaris in our backyard fruit orchard.
Shoot the rats out of the trees with pellet rifles and our rat terrier (with a chihuahua assist) would finish off the survivors. She LOVED killing rats. I used to not care about rats being out there but after several $1,000+ bills for vehicle damaged caused by the little fuckers, I kill every one I find. |

The tunnels look like a manure field that might have cast off feed imbedded into it. It might have been a covered animal pen that was moved to clean area in a normal rotation as manure builds up.
