So earlier today I get a call from my accountants office.

One of his employees calls and asks a few questions to clarify things. He then goes on to my dependents, specifically my son. Says they need a copy of his birth certificate and social security card to keep on file.  Now I have used the same accounting firm for about 18 years now and this is the first time they have asked for this stuff. Now I also claim my daughter as she still lives at home and just turned 21, granted I don't get a child deduction for her maybe that's why they don't need the same info.

It just seems ODD, he also said they will keep it on file in the office.

Any accountants here that can verify that this is actually needed.

I live in PA, Work in NY and accountant is in NJ.. Just in case this is needed info.

Damn.  Yep, I'd be keeping all of that on file then, too.
