Oh wise and knowledgeable GD hive, I ask you this.. Which Tablet/Laptop does thou recommend for an upcoming extended stay in a smelly, hot and dusty country?

Requirements-
I like to play games on these trips during down time, FPS / RPG etc..
Illustrating ability/interface so I can make a comic book for my kid / general doodling and such.
Regular internets/email capacity
1000 budget.
Can survive being stuffed into a bag, and said bag rumbling around the back of a truck for an indeterminate amount of time. ( the roads are terrible )
limited electronic ability, so I cant build anything.

I took and an a Ipad before, but it was kind of limited with the software it could run, interface with the morale net was buggy and not to mention that not having a stylus made it cumbersome to draw on, so im leaning away from iOS unless something big has changed.

Youtube reviews of the latest and greatest tech leave a bad taste in my mouth, because they may or may not be paid for. Online reviews are all over the place as far as quality and stability goes.. I'm kinda lost, so I've come to grovel at the might of GD. What say you?

Thanks for the help.

I like my Samsung android tablet.  Great for traveling.
Netflix allows me to download some movies to my tablet, so I can watch them when not connected.

Netflix, Kodi, Exodus, and Mobdro allows access to all sorts of video.  Just make certain that you obey all copyright laws.
