Kim du Toit is back, he has returned to blogging. HIs site is called Splendid Isolation:

If you're not familiar with him, he was one of the seminal gun/politics bloggers years ago. He wrote the classic articles The Pussification of the Western Male and Let Africa Sink, among many others: The Pussification of the Western Male Let Africa Sink Kim played a large role in making me the gun owner and conservative that I am today. He seems angrier than I remember. I think Connie had a tempering influence on him. I know when he and she did the podcasts, he could be quite negative, she seemed to even him out. I lived in Africa for over thirty years. Growing up there, I was infused with several African traits--traits which are not common in Western civilization. The almost-casual attitude towards death was one. (Another is a morbid fear of snakes.) I lived there for far less time and share these traits. We had a saying "WAWA." West Africa Wins Again. |

How is his name pronounced correctly? I only ever listened to one audio thing by him, so I'm sure someone who listened to more of his podcasts can say more authoritatively, but IIRC it's: "due twah" with emphasis on the "twah" and more truncated than you'd pronounce it naturally just reading it. |

Probably because the Progs and ignoramuses that infest GD would hassle him to no end. Same reason why many other notable folks post here under pseudonyms that don't reveal their identity. I think Kim prefers to be in control. After he closed the last iteration of his old blog, members there created a site called the Gun Counter, which exists to this day (if you look at his new site, he has the Gun Counter blogrolled). Kim came to the site, but didn't stick around long. I suspect the asshattery so common at arfcom keeps him away. He detests such behavior, and if you behaved so at his site, he'd boot you in a NY minute. For that matter, if you misbehave so at the Gun Counter, you'll be booted in short order. It's a good group of people, but dickheads are not tolerated. |
