if it's spelled I A N-- It's EE - AN. Trust me I have a vested interest in knowing that. I also don't know how so many people can F up that name, it's one syllable and three letters.....

So how is it spelled to get eye-an?  And why the fuck can't parents pick names with intuitive pronunciations?

yep.....Ion.....In.....Ain.....and way back an "ethnic" substitute teacher who was absolutely baffled....couldn't pronounce it correctly even with my help. I told her to stop and just call me Fred, she said "oh is that your middle name?"....I said something along the lines of "no, but that seems to be about your level of mental capacity" or some such.....off to the office I went.... Class was in stitches.

It is intuitive.  Panaman EE AN, Canad EE AN, Brazil EE AN.. See-- the IAN prononciation is not only common, it's the only one when spelled that way
