Made breakfast this morning on a discada (or disco).  It's a plow disk that has been welded up to cook on like a wok.  This one came from my family farm.

Gotta start breakfast with bacon.

Mmm, listen to that sizzle.

video link

Bacon is done, and now I have all this grease sitting there with nothing to do...

Bread is pretty good at soaking up grease.

Breakfast is almost ready...

Needs some eggs.

I was going for over easy, but broke the yokes.  Screw it, scrambled it is.

20" A4 clone-ish, 9mm Dan Wesson Guardian 1911, Blackjack Model 5 knife.

Food close up:

Overhead shot for better view of guns.

Should have thrown the eggs in the grease before messing with the bread.

I've done it that way too, but the eggs wind up too damn greasy for my taste.  Bread to soak up some grease, cook the eggs in what's left works pretty well for me.

Why not use a real pan, does that one actually have any real advantage?

It's good thick steel, so it's like cooking on cast iron.

Other than getting to do it outside on the back porch, no real advantage over a cast iron skillet on the oven....minus the nostalgia/fun of cooking on something I used to use to plow fields as a kid.

I think it is a pretty neat, I'd cook on it occasionally just for shits-n-giggles

Currently using a turkey fryer burner/stand and a propane tank.  Middle gets very hot, sides stay cool, which is why I can push the finished food up on the side like that and keep cooking without burning anything.

This one is 16", dad is working on a 21" discada, a better stand and a 6" burner to replace the 3" turkey fryer burner.

Would smash!

Just finished a pulled pork, egg, cheese soft taco at Jim'n Nicks BBQ in the Birmingham airport.  It was good, but I'd rather have what you made.

Yeah that's about 95% of the reason I use it...it's fun to cook on.

temperature gradient from the middle to the edge.  Being able to leave items at the edge to stay warm while the bottom is screaming hot.  Lets oil drain away from foods on the edge.

I would say there isn't really an advantage when cooking bacon and eggs though.

It's Texas, that's how we roll.

heat gets spread very wide from this type of burner on that plow, not a problem.

I know we have cloth napkins in this house...but I have no idea where they are.

Wife only breaks out the good stuff for guests, I use paper towels.  I never pretended to be high class.

I like the fact you didn't cook the eggs sunny side up. I don't like runny yolk. Plus eleventy brogillian.

I tried to, because I love a good runny yolk.

I just failed miserably at it.  Broke one, flipped one successfully, broke the third, decided fuck it and scrambled everything.

Not a big fan of grapefruit but otherwise looks good. Shame you ruined your eggs.

That bread looks perfect to sop up egg yolk.

Not just any grapefruit! It appears to be a Ruby Red, the grapefruit of Texas and therefore the best.

Anyways, good looking breakfast, OP!

Good food. Problems: 1. Sling placement. I would have flipped AR so we see that not the sling. 2. Should have made into a sandwich.

I was going to say how you failed for the scrambled eggs, but because you were going for over easy, and had to make do when the yolk broke, I'll allow them.

Until I had eggs over easy, I always ate them scrambled. Now, IMO the only thing scrambled eggs are good for is as another ingredient in a breakfast burrito.

I agree 100%.

Some days you make good eggs, some days you fuck up and make scrambled eggs.  Today was a scrambled eggs kind of day.
