how come they dont offer multiple tiers of internet speeds like the competitors....they only offer one tier of internet 100mbps
i want to shop around for intenet, but its making me hesitant to get theirs. Do you think they'll offer more speeds in the future? |

Spectrum is hosing people badly. I'm an old TWC customer and have 300M speeds and TWC offered multiple tiers of service. After spectrum took over they reduced the max speed to 100 and raised prices. They told me if i make any changes to my plan at all I lose the 300 down speed.
Now that verizon and AT&T are both vying to buy Spectrum/charter/TWC it will probably get worse not better. Somehow going backwards in technology and offerings while upping pricing is good for the consumer. |

I just changed my plan a few weeks ago to a new Spectrum bundle and it has 100Mbps. It looks like I could upgrade to 200 or 300 if I wanted. Frankly, I don't think I could ever use the extra bandwidth, and wonder what people are doing such that 100 is not enough. Unlike TWC, there is no longer a modem rental fee, and I was just about to buy one.

I switched from AT&T dsl to Spectrum because AT&T started raping me on data usage.
Spectrum is $41.23 per month, unlimited data, and is fast enough to simultaneously stream multiple streams on 5 computers here at my house/office. It also allows me to run a company server for access remotely. I'm not an online gamer so I guess I just don't need the extra bandwidth, and Spectrum is about $100.00 a month cheaper than AT&T's lunacy. I'm OK with Spectrum. |

Definitely a local issue and probably related to lack of competition. AT&T fiber is already here and Google should be available some time this year.
I'm at 200 down, 20 up and can move to 300/50 if I want to spend more money, but I'm holding out to see what my options are going forward.
