What are my fellow corporate drones using to wear their ID badge around their neck?

I don't want the usual nylon ribbon, but I don't know what I want.

my dept is the one that handles the IDs so we get all sorts of cool freebies.   When I actually wear one, I like the retractable cords with a clear edge holder for the badge

Barbed wire, real men wear barbed wire. Stainless steel razor wire will also work if you are in a marine environment.

Whatever you get, just make sure it is the break away kind.

I can't keep it beat into the heads of the folks that order ours to get damn break-aways.

Can't stress this enough.

With that said, I wear mine on a badge-pull hooked to a belt loop.

Why breakaway? Get in lots of fights at the office?

[#15]
I DESPISE those things.  Watched a guy at a large colo site hook one around a server rail end and a heavy ass USC chassis and pin himself.  Not break away.  Big dude, pretzeled his ass right up.

I use the retractible type PLUS a clip to hold it to my weak side pocket.  Losing them sucks and it prevents them from flapping around.  Looks more professional.

Ha!  I was at a trade show a few months ago, everyone had a badge with their contact info on it hanging from a lanyard. At one booth while a woman was staring at my badge I said, "Excuse me, my eyes are up here." She looked shocked at first then burst out laughing. I told her I had wanted to say that to a woman my whole life.

I learned it working corners, responding to broken down, crashed, or burning race cars.

Getting into fights is such a minor concern.  There are many other reasons than that.

I suppose it depends on your work environment. But I'm having a difficult time coming up with a reason why you should avoid a breakaway. If you work around machinery of the "OMG it spins" variety then it's a must. I use a breakaway because I know for a fact that there are people out there that would love nothing more than to have the opportunity to use my lanyard as a garrote against me.

Eta: don't know who made mine. Got it at a pilot store. I've had it a long time and never plan on changing it. I get tons of the free, stretchy ones from the company and ALPA but I never like those. This one is tough, breakaway, has a qd clip, a swivel, and the spring clip. Everything I need.

I clip my zip line thing to my shirt pocket.  I hate wearing the lanyards around my neck, even the 'break away' models.

Plenty firearm and automotive lanyards on Ebay.

Here's a Sig Sauer Lanyard.

I used to do this until we had to move them up above the waistline for some sexual harassment thing.

Badges?  We don't need no stinking badges!

That's my response every time they bring it up at work.

ID badge on a reel  attached to belt.  (if i actually remember to pull it out of my pocket and put it on)

Fuck having shit dangling around my neck all day.

We're required to have them around our necks because the security guards hated having to look down.

I need a breakaway.

I can't handle lanyards... so just a simple retractable deal hooked to my weak side pocket...

Back in the days when I had to wear a badge I had mine on 550 cord with the cord looped through a button hole on my shirt. Since it was in the days before breakaway clips, if I needed the cord to break away I was willing to sacrifice a shirt.  I usually wore my badges clipped to my left pocket and only had the 550 cord lanyard to prevent the badge from getting lost/blown away.

COrporate guys who wear those lanyards around their necks are so sad.  Like animals wearing tags.  It's demeaning.

I manage construction prjects, so the normal clip on the belt type don't cut it.  I hated the thought of going with a neck lanyard, but since doing so about two months ago it has been much better.

I only have to wear the acess bandge when in my clients secured facilities, so it is not so bad.  I got the Blackhawk laynayd off Amazon about about $15 or so and have been happy with it so far.

I bought my wife a shiny one from Brighton.  She likes it and it was surprisingly affordable.

I'm ghetto.  I just wear the nylon company lanyard.

Email Betty at Glock and they'll send you a swag pack. I got mine in about 4 months. I don't wear the landyard here cause people would get triggered.
