I remember watching it
1/28/2017 11:02:38 PM EDT
[#1]
Yeah, I watched it all the time in the '70s.

ETA: I had the hots for Nurse McCall.

"Rampart division, come in..." Yea, I remember that.

Also Julie London.  Formed many a "older woman with young boy" fantasies for me.

I was an EMT at the time, never missed a show.

I watched it all the time. One episode had a kid that ate bread dough before it had risen. It rose in his stomach.

thanks to that show whenever we played firemen as kids we always had to throw in a "give him an IV with ringers" coz it sounded so cool and "real"

I remember that episode!  They basically left him to digest it off with the words, "Enjoy your birthday cake."  "Ohhhwhoahooo!!!"

This one is interesting, shows the stations they used in the show..then and now.

ADAM12CODE3 FLASHBACK 'EMERGENCY!'

[#12]
I just  remember D5W being used for just about every injury they rolled out on.

Caught in a 10 car pile up.. D5W
Burned in a house fire... D5W
Fall off the roof .. D5W
Cat caught in a tree...... give it some D5W and send it on its way.

Loved it when I was a kid.

It was a great show. They really spared no expense on some of those scenes.

My sister was in loooove with Mantooth.
1/28/2017 11:14:02 PM EDT
[#17]
Yes.  I was a little kid when it was on.

I even had the board game.
1/28/2017 11:15:01 PM EDT
[#18]
Ha, I was about 6 riding my bike outside in the yard, ran over an empty bleach bottle, and took a spill into the hard gravel. Really gouged up my knees.

Mom was inside and thought my yelling was an episode of Emergency! Emergency! on the TV till she realized it was going on too long. She got to perform real life first aid, lol.

Oh well, I still loved the show (and still have the scars).

I know, CSB.

Watched it all the time.

Seems funny in retrospect that the doctors at Rampart never seemed to have anything to do except wait for Johnny and Roy to radio in

I had the board game

D5W, lactated Ringer's, or a portable defibrillator cured everything

My favorite was the guy who opened a beer, put the pull tab into the can, chugged the beer and inhaled the pull tab!

Yep, friggin' ALWAYS an IV with D5W, no matter the issue. Usually some ringers lactate or sodium bicarbonate, and maybe 5 milligrams of epinephrine tossed in for good measure too.

I mostly remember the hot chick that got her toe stuck in the tub drain.  They rescued her and then the redneck dude who was popping the beer can tabs and putting them in the beer can he was drinking from finally swallowed one.  They had to unchoke him.

Watched it weekly when it was first on. It's one of the things in my childhood that drew me into the FD.

Awesome show and much more realistic in its scope, than many realize.

Not to hijack your thread but who remembers this show?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiyZiBQjryI William Shatner was the host.
