If you're a gun owner and don't believe in Constitutional Carry, you're indoctrinated.

Paying an $85 tax to the state every 5 years does NOT inherently make you a more  responsible gun owner.

Let those permits expire boys. Carry anyway.

Someone's gotta be the Rosa Parks of carry rights.

You are gonna get loved tenderly by your state AG if you have to resort to deadly force while you are conceal carrying.

Edit - Or if a cop discovers that you are CC'ing and cannot produce a valid permit.

But go ahead, think you are a martyr or something when your ass is in jail.  I doubt you get 2 minutes on the local news.

Some folks say things before they really think them through.  I was talking with a friend of mine yesterday about possibly opening up the machine gun registry, and why NFA gun owers might be against it.  He said he was against it too, and when I asked why he said "because we don't need more people running around airports with machine guns". This guy has a CCW, carries daily and owns AR rifles.  After another 2 or 3 minutes of discussion he agreed that his first thoughts were stupid since people who shoot up airports don't obey laws and their quest to obtain a machine gun wouldn't start with federal paperwork and a background check.

TLDR; Give people a chance before you label them "idiot", maybe they just don't understand the question.

I could carry in my car without a permit but I decided to get mine because I can use it to buy firearms and not be at the mercy of NCIS checks.  Also due to the Federal Gun Free School Act I would not be able to drive on school property with my gun unless I have a permit.  I have a 2 campus school zone that I cross thru twice daily and would be breaking Federal Law by having a gun in my truck without the permit.

But I wouldn't be against CC as well as permit optional for situations like mine.

That's your decision and your right. But there are perks to licensing here like no NICS check on gun purchases, long gun purchases in contiguous states, and not going to jail if I'm found to be carrying within 1000' of a school.

It is not uncommon to find people who have guns, enjoy shooting, etc., but say something like "I don't think everybody should be carrying a gun around".  So I like to ask them if someone is too dangerous or unstable to carry a gun, why should they even possess one?

Besides, even in areas with "constitutional carry", not "everyone" is allowed carry a gun.

The idea of "everyone" being able to vote is "dangerous" too.

And this is the crux of the whole debate. Law abiding citizens (free men) should not be barred from carrying or possessing firearms at any time in defense of themselves and others or for any other lawful activity. The problem with gun laws is that there are to many of them (all of them)

Get rid of all the gun laws and aggressively prosecute and punish, incarcerate, execute those that commit crimes with guns, end of story.

My permit cost $15. Think renewal is $5. But I agree it's bullshit to have to get a permit to exercise your rights.

We came close, but were shot down by a flip flopping RINO last year in a vote.  Doubt the governor would sign it either.

I was told today at a 1 year old's birthday party that not having a carry permitting process will create more domestic violence.

This was told to me by a "Sig Sauer Instructor" lady. I didn't even feel like calling bullshit on her qualifications. I tried to reason soundly with her, and asked her, "Why does the lack of a permit make one more or less susceptible to doing anything that the individual is hell bent on doing?"

Now she's pouting in the corner. Guys if this is your wife, tell her to check herself.

My fiancee called her on her BS and she got pissy...

Did it for a few years, worked out fine. When my state made the licensing and renewals easier, I decided to play ball again. Lately they've been making me regret playing by the rules, so I'll probably go back to gangsta carry.

That usually gets reduced to a misdemeanor in my very odd state.  Using a concealed firearm in self-defense is prima fascia evidence that you had a "legitimate" need to carry it.

Step one - Carry concealed with no permit.

Step 2 - Notify local media

Step 3 - Notify local law enforcement

Step 4 - Make political statement while being cuffed and stuffed

I don't think long gun purchases in contiguous states have anything to do with a CCW permit.

Nor does contiguous states have much relevance period.

You can buy guns in states that are not contiguous. You will have to pass NICS and go through an FFL, but a CCW doesn't change that.

I suspect the thinking is......

You have a right to bear arms on your property.
I have the right to allow or deny you permission to bear arms on my property.
The public has the right to allow or deny you the right to bear arms on public property.

The licensing is the public giving permission.
