I'm about to mount my vice to my workbench. Looking for advice on where to mount. It will be primarily for firearm tinkering. Just curious if anyone has run into issues based on where and how they mounted their vice. Thanks.

Ignore this.

Right in the center is best.

Mounting can be a vice, depending on whom you mount and where you mount them.

First, it's a vise, not a vice.  Second, as mentioned, mount it on a corner.  Third, mount it far enough out that the face of the inner jaw extends past the edge of the table, so you can clamp something long or tall in the vise and have it clear the table edge.

I did mine on the corner, but mostly so that I could turn it to be out of the way.

I stacked extra blocks under the counter to provide density for the vise. Long bolts and it was all done.

This.  I've seen so many vises mounted with the back jaw behind the edge of the bench that it's maddening.

Autocorrect. So should have added, can't  mount it on a corner. The work bench is the length of my shop. It's a small shop. Obviously don't want to mount too close to the wall, but in the middle seems inconvenient.

Meh, it isn't like your going to put an I-beam in it and go to work.  Just mount it where it isn't going to be in the way.  It's not an everyday tool.
