So we just turned our 2009 VW Jetta back in to VW today on the buyback.  It was part of the "diesel cheating scandal"...  Now Fiat Chrysler is under investigation by the EPA, for who can guess it???!!!  Cheating on diesel emissions in the Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel equipped vehicles.  Guess who bought a 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel???!!!  You guessed it!

FEPA!!!

I really love this truck.  36,000 miles and no real problems to speak of.  It averages 24.8-25 mpg in the warmer months and 23.7-24 in the cooler/winter months.  I'm sure if they are found guilty I will be forced to yet again, either choose a "fix", which will certainly decrease mileage, or take a buyback.

Let the hate and snide comments begin

Your mpg statement is disturbing.  You sound just as bad as the EPA!

Wow.  A friend's wife had a Jetta diesel, sold it back to VW.  Bought a Dodge 1500 diesel.

Just don't take it in for the fix.

Why did you turn in your Jetta, were you forced to or something?

I'm hoping that they don't find a way to "force" you into it

We got too good a buyback deal on it to pass it up.  It was paid for, but the wife wanted a little bit bigger vehicle with AWD.  We bought a Forrester to fill the requirements.  The buyback was just shy of 50% of what we paid for it brand new in 2009.

If he lives somewhere with emissions tests I don't imagine that plan would work.

I know that is always an option.  I have been looking at Green Diesel anyways for one of their ECMs.  Kind of glad I haven't done that yet now.  The way I figure it, it will be close to two years before I will even have to consider what to do, if the accusations prove true.

We don't have emissions testing in TN.  I know that not taking it in is always the case, but I feel like they can find ways around it.  I.E.:  take it in for warranty work, they find that it has not been "fixed", deny warranty work until "improvement" has been made...
