They are 're-booting' the original Predator movie.  Shane Black is writing it. You may remember him as Hawkins, the dude with the glasses who became the first casualty.
BTW, if you haven't seen 'The Nice Guys' from last year, it's awesome. Another Shane Black movie.

http://collider.com/predator-reboot-sequel-shane-black/

"Last night, news broke that 20th Century Fox was reviving its Predator franchise with Shane Black attached to direct and write the treatment, while Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) would handle scripting duties.  While it didn’t come as a surprise that Fox wanted to put together another entry in one of its staple film series, it was excellent to hear that Black, who wrote and directed Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Iron Man 3, would be steering the ship.  A veteran screenwriter, Black has developed a signature tone and style that is a welcome reprieve from generic studio actioners, and he proved himself to be a strong director with the incredible Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang then showed he could handle a massive budget on Iron Man 3."

"Keegan-Michael Key, best known for Comedy Central’s cult comedy series Key and Peele, is in final negotiations to join the growing cast of The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of the sci-fi action franchise.

Shane Black is spearheading the project, having written the script with Fred Dekker and sitting in the director’s chair.

Boyd Holbrook is leading what is described as an ensemble cast that includes Moonlight breakout Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn.

The setting for the new story is suburbia, a place in which audiences haven’t seen the Predator creature in action. Holbrook and Rhodes are ex-Marines while Munn is a scientist.

Key will play a man who teams up with Holbrook and Rhodes to fight the creatures.

A late February start is being eyed."

I'll stick around for that.

Should just continue on from Predators with Brody.

It is going to be a sequel not a reboot.

Shane Black also did rewrites to fix the script for the original Predator .  He was still doing rewrites as they were filming, which is how he ended up playing Hawkins.

Just watched the original last night, and would watch that as well.

My usual response to news like this.

Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck....

Other than Predator 2, I've liked them all. Even the AVP stuff (Requiem was a little weak, granted).

I don't know, the AVP stuff was a hard watch in my opinion.

I am sure that it will turn out good.

The Nice Guys and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang were great movies. I didn't know Black wrote Nice Guys, but it reminded me of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang throughout.

This.

The leads in the Shane Black reboot are not exactly promising. Olivia Munn is worth seeing however.

Black's involvement has my hopes up.  I would have been fine with another Robert Rodriguez film though honestly.

yeah as even if they "reboot" it the films were all stand alone so its impossible to reboot it like say a comic character i guess they could reuse the names but that would seem asinine as the only ones who really remembers the characters names are the faggots who would bitch about a reboot.

I like Black's work in general (Lethal Weapon.. nuff said) but 'The Nice Guys' was a boring POS.

I liked Predators. Wish they would have had Arnold in the role that Laurence Fishburne played. Would have been a great nod to the original film.

IMO...Of all the movies Arnold were in, this is one of the best two movies (the other one is Terminator).

I'm glad it's a sequel.

I watched Predator again recently and it holds up beautifully after many years. It's a classic film, as powerful now as the day it was released.

Perfect cast, direction, photography and even  the soundtrack is iconic.

I remember watching TV with my Dad, seeing the trailer for Predator, and us basically just looking at each other and walking out the door to go see it.
We may or may not have yelled "bye" to my Mom on the way out the door.

Olivia Munn's a good casting choice given what we saw in XMen Apocalypse.
I'm just thankful they didn't choose someone like Emilia Clarke based on that last Terminator movie.
