I have a 2016 Sierra 1500. It has the wrap around C shape LED DRLs. One section is out on the drivers side. Just a section about an inch long. Is this not a serviceable part by the owner?  I cannot find any information about replacements. Is this a dealer services item?

Any help?

Why is it that they can't seem to fix this issue no matter the technology they use?

I don't know for sure but being LED I'd imagine it's sealed inside the headlight.

But a 2016, shouldn't something like that be covered under warranty?

Fuck that.

That headlight is probably like $500.

If it craped out after one year and was over the mileage OP should raise hell.

Only 1800 miles.

I'll take it in but I think the light is integral to the entire housing that is 500-700$.

Crazy money for a headlight.

if its led headlight the headlights like 1300 bucks, if its hid then its like 1100,

For a single or the pair?

single, but almost all new headlights are really expensive, im not showing a standard halogen bulbed headlamp for that its either an led bulb or hid and they tend to be even more expensive. i work at a dealer and havent seen an led fail yet and we primarily sell trucks, but it can happen i guess. im bet its warente and you should jump on getting it fixed

Dude OP you paid how much for a brand new truck, and the light is not working right, take it to dealer and make GM pay to fix it.  Who gives a fuck how much it cost them?

I have seen a few burned out already myself.

Take it back.

I've been seeing burned out lights on Chevy/GMC  trucks for 30 years.  What's up with that?

In before OP needs new grill/headlight/bumper sub-assembly.

My '00 suffered with the rest.

LEDs should have cured the issue.  Cheapness can screw up anything I guess.

No wonder trucks are $45K and up. $1300 is near 3%, FOR ONE FUCKING HEADLIGHT!

They buy the shittiest quality bulbs possible from Sylvania, in bulk. Practically every other GM vehicle from 2000 on is driving around with one DRL marker out.

Wow....another reason why I love my old school '95 Chevy K1500.  Besides being already paid for.  A sealed beam headlight cost about $10-15.

Glad I am not the only one to notice this.

Every time there's a bulb out is a GM product.

The LED is not repairable like you're hoping. The fix is to replace the LED emitter section, which could be the entire fixture. I know it is on my Harley too. They went to LED's on some of the lighting, and state right in the service literature that total replacement is the only fix.

Get it to the dealership and document the repair.

that's the GMT800 platform, the DRL harness runs too much voltage, overheats and murders bulbs. IIRC there are replacement sockets available that limit the juice to not ruin the bulbs.

The whole headlamp assembly will need to be replaced. Done it a couple of times.

Oh, and this in addition to the shitty bulbs. GM has been underwiring their headlamps for YEARS, like since the C/K years (early '80s).
