Friend has a mustang as a second car she bought used. She lost the key. She has none of the original paperwork .
What does she need to get another key? Are there key codes like a GM?
Thanks

Depends on the year on some you can give the VIN to a dealer and they can cut you new keys. You may need to key to program the security system.

It depends on the year. Older models didn't have chipped keys.

The dealer will charge you big bucks to make a chipped key.

A qualified locksmith can make a chipped key for you much cheaper
than the dealer. They have the software and equipment to code the
new key.

Be prepared to leave the dealer with a bleeding asshole, I had 1 key and wanted an extra Ford dealer wanted like $90 for the blank and another 100 an change to cut and program it. Since I still had 1 key I managed to get a OEM chipped ford blank off ebay for $15 and local locksmith cut and programmed it for $50.
