Use ot to stream music from youre pc that you use to DL music, movies etc. If these home automation devices cant reqch the internet, then you are safe from privacy issues. |

Unless you're living with a flip phone, the smart phone in your pocket has a mic, can be remotely activated and is constantly sending your location and app data back to the mothership. You're using an ISP to connect to the Internet and every single bit of that traffic is getting logged, cataloged and dropped onto a disk somewhere in the giant Utah datacenter run by the NSA. All your phone metadata is being hoovered up and dropped off at the same DC. Plus all those websites are tracking you, dropping cookies on your devices, showing you carefully targeted ads. The police are probably running Stingray towers around you at least part of the day, so all that cell info/conversations/etc is getting stored by local law enforcement. If you've got a member card for discounts at any store, every purchase is logged, sorted and stuck into a database somewhere. Ditto for any coupon apps on your phone. Then all of that is being sold to 3rd parties where it's combined with any other data they can scrape. But yeah... The Amazon Echo is going to be the tipping point for the surveillance state and/or turning you into a marketable commodity. That's what will finally do it. |

Speak or type into that phone or computer and it's probably going somewhere else. |

What do you think it does with the other information it picks up? Do you think a software programmer smart enough to turn your speech into instruction won't also hoover up every conversation within earshot and turn it into a profit stream or store it for later sale and data mining? |

Why bring that kind of trouble into your home in the first place. That's like having a dog that bites if you don't handle it properly? |

The goal is eventually to have listening devices in every home so that people don't have any seditious speech, thoughts, or actions. We wouldn't want any citizens to be berating our dear leaders, for example. Suspicion breeds confidence. But right now it's just analyzing your speech patterns for market research. It's cool. |

It listens for a keyword. Alexa. Until it hears said keyword... it does NOTHING. It doesn't monitor anything. And it's easily verifiable to anyone that knows how to monitor the traffic through their router. |

We received one for Christmas and we love it.
It's been playing Christmas music while we were cooking and used it as a timer too. Have it setup to connect with our Nest thermostat and can adjust the temperature in the house using a voice command. Also loaded an app for groceries so that it syncs with my iPhone. So while we were making Christmas dinner and found something that needed to be added to our shopping list, 'Hey Alexa....' Lights and ceiling fans are next on the list to look at controlling,,,, |

Do you like blow jobs? It can give you those. I got an Amazon Tap for Christmas (scaled down version that has an internal battery). Yeah, I had fun asking Alexa questions. I asked her for a BJ - she said she's not built for that. I asked if she liked anal sex and she said that was an inappropriate question. I asked "Why are you so ugly?" and she said that wasn't a very nice thing to say. She's definitely into me. I can tell |
