I keep seeing the ads for this on The History Channel.

If I am understanding this correctly, then these people are basically putting themselves through the worst part of Navy SEAL training...for nothing. They aren't getting paid and there's no prize for winning. NO PRIZE.

I don't understand.

I understand people who go through Navy SEAL training because they want to be Navy SEALs so they can shoot guns and blow shit up. I could understand people going through Navy SEAL training for a TV show contest where the winner gets $1,000,000 or something.

But why would you subject yourself to this punishment with no reward. You don't get to be a Navy SEAL at the end and you don't get any money either. What you're doing is letting a bunch of ex-Navy SEALs (who I assume are getting paid really well) torture the hell out of you for the entertainment of couch potatoes.

Are these people stupid?

If they make it they'll get to tell all their buddies "yeah man I totally could have made it as a SEAL"....but without having to do any of the dangerous stuff.

Would like to know if one of them chaffs through their scrotum.  Testies are a dull grey color.

Also, while I have zero interest in putting myself through something like that on tv for others amusement, people do painful, horrible shit to themselves all the time for no money or glory.

Hell, I paid to run a half marathon earlier this month.  No prizes, no fame.  I beat myself up running a shitty, god awful race and paid for the pleasure of doing so with full knowledge that not only was there no prize, but I wasn't going to come remotely close to winning or even placing highly.  Why?  I'm not really sure I could give you a good answer other than that I wanted a challenge.

Maybe they'll get an extra spot in Vikings?

Their choice, I won't judge but I will laugh.
