Quoted:
One of my favorite bands. I saw them in concert in 1986 or 1987. Absolutely one of the best concerts I've seen. They had 20+ years of hits to perform, and they knew how to work an audience. They made a solid connection with the crowd, and didn't need fireworks or other distractions in their performance. ETA: Looks like it was in 1987 set list |
The sequel to Lola;

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man,
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man, And so is Lola. Oh demon alcohol,
Sad memories I cannot recall, Who thought I would say, Damn it all and blow it all, Oh demon alcohol, Memories I cannot recall, Who thought I would fall a slave to demon alcohol. 'Cause there's a red, under my bed
And there's a little yellow man in my head And there's a true, blue, inside of me That keeps stoppin' me, touchin' ya, watchin' ya, lovin' ya Paranoia, need destroyer. Paranoia, they destroy ya' |

Had it not been for their permit ban from '65 - '69 here in the states, they would have been bigger than the Stones and possibly the Beatles.
Either of those bands don't hold a candle to the Kinks ![]() Got To Be Free - The Kinks - Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround, Part One ![]() The Kinks - Victoria ![]() The Kinks - Maximum Consumption - Everybody's In Show-Biz ![]() Failed To Load Title |

Give em credit. They were the first to suggest in 1970, that falling in love with a trannie he/she, and ending up on your knee's blowing it, was like....o'tay. o'tay
I guess that took balls...of a sort. But they made a lot of great music and maybe didnt get the credit they deserved cause they were often in the shadow of the Beatles. I had a chance to see them in the late '70s and always regretted not going. |

That's it! Thanks! I have only heard that song once on the radio. the old KLOL (iirc) in Houston, early 80s. They were rockin'. |

Around The Dial was the first cut; Better Things was the last. Destroyer was the first song on the second side, followed by a bit of middle aged angst. ![]() The Kinks - Yo-Yo The title track was the same idea as Dirty Laundry, a year earlier. |
