I'll be purchasing a Glock 40 MOS soon for dedicated hog hunting.  Vortex seems to be a great option and the warranty is hard to beat.  Thinking of mounting a Venom or a Viper but am not 100% sure what seperates these two?  Any input would be appreciated.

I got the viper. Mounts lower, takes cr2032, and reasonable cost. Just got it tho... So no range report.

Venom has a 3 moa dot, Viper has a 6 moa dot. I chose the Viper for my g17 mos.

Iirc One of them has a top mount battery compartment. You want that one so you don't have to dismount it to change the battery

It's the venom

The viper has a bigger window.
I'd get the viper.

I own both and really like them. Here are some considerations listed below.

Venom

3moa dot
Top mount battery compartment
Uses cr1632 battery (less common)

*It looks like a 6 moa version will get released this year at SHOT.

Viper

6moa dot
Battery on underside (re zero after battery change)
Uses cr2032 (more common)

I have the Venom. First one burned through batteries way too fast. Called Vortex, they sent another one PDQ, added a t shirt as I couldn't print a return form for shipping. It's on my S&W Victory 22 and works very well.
They asked my t shirt size, lost it and sent one a size too small and asked if it was correct. I told them it wasn't but that I didn't really wear t shirts much anyway and was going to give to a friend. So they sent me a hat.

This is crucial.  I can see needing several multiple battery changes/year and don't wanna have to re-zero every time.

yeah, I got a venom for the smaller dot and the top battery.
I will put it on a 40 MOS as well; the vortex guy online suggested it over the other.

I own both and can not for the life of me figure out why anyone would opt to buy something they have to remove to replace the battery....
The Venom is my choice... I have 3 of them now.
Not only does it have top battery compartment but, it also has a smaller foot print on the pistol slide as well.
