...blow up in people's hands and they love them?
But high-points fail to explode and everyone hates them?

Glock 23 owner since 1994. Thousands of rounds, including reloads.
Primary carry weapon, both in former reserve duty and daily carry. No Kaboom yet. Guess it is just a matter of time. Picture of grenade with no pin. Attached File |

Never had a Glock blow up in my hand, been shooting them since 1995 or so, including Gen 2 .40s. Same....only back to 88. 10mm mostly, but plenty of the others as well, all but a couple Gen 2 and even a couple Gen 1's. Only issues I ever saw was light primer hits on fmj reloads on the 20's and 21's. Glock fixed that right up though. |

If I'm ever murdered with a High Point, please tell people that I was fucked to death in a gay brothel. It will be less damaging to my dignity. You sir win the internets for the day. I should probably tell my 34 that was my idpa ssp gun thats seen thousands and thousands of rounds of handloads that it needs to kaboom. It is obviously malfunctioning. |

This is ARFCOM. The answer is always both. |

Is there a 50MOA challenge going on right now or am I missing something? |

Because from what I recall it's mostly caused by people rechambering the same round over and over again. That was disproved. A guy was hammering the bullets into the casings on several different calibers and it did not increase chamber pressure or velocity in any meaningful way. I'll see if I can find the video. |

I'm just saying I don't think it's as dangerous as people say it is. https://plus.google.com/+LuckyGunner/posts/CiVxdHvWjYS |

Bullet setback can be a factor from rechambering the, same, round, but the truth of it is that .40 is loaded to SAMMI maximum pressure in a standard loading-there is no +P. Setback of .010 (two and a half sheets of standard bond paper) will exceed safe pressure on a .40.
That's bad enough, but with a Glock you have two things that make things worse. One is that Glock uses Polygonal rifling-It seals better than cut rifling, and two, they don't have a fully supported chamber. The feedramp is deeper into the chamber on .40 models to promote feed reliability. What you end up with is part of the cartridge doesn't have barrel around it. When the pressures are on the high side, the case fails at this unsupported part of the case and you have a "six o'clock blowout" where the slide is usually fine, but the frame is toast, the magazine is toast, and you hand hurts. I learned a lot about 40's and Glocks after mine KB'd. |

I didn't trust it anymore, so I put a 22LR kit on it. Now it's got some custom millwork on it and a 9mm KKM conversion. Much better gun now than it ever was before, and not as hard to look at.

Huh, between the academy, 2 decades in LE and hundred of thousands of crappy commercial reloads through our guns at work I have yet to see or hear of a kaboom first hand.
As for the Highpoints, they will kill you just as quick as a several thousand dollar 1911 so that is a moot point. J- |
