Brian Cox is a great actor.

Classically trained, yet has done so many different roles. He is one of those actors that never lays an egg when it comes to his performances. His filmography is impressive.

He played Lecktor much closer to Thomas Harris's idea of the character; calm, charming, cold. By comparison, Hopkins's performance was bordering on cartoony by the time 'Red Dragon' rolled around.
