No, I'm not a basement dweller, I just own one that needs better light.

Any electrician, home improvement or general contractor types out there?

Looking for pros & cons of LED vs fluorescent (would be 4' double or quad tubes, not screw-in bulbs). My own electrician suggested fluorescent, given reloading, wood working & other projects the wife does.

I would avoid fluorescent like th plague personally.

Even the new ones suck ass.

Led without a doubt.  Are you putting in new or upgrading what you have?

There are existing incandescent lights, which are rated to 75W, but there are only a few scattered about, so I will have new lights added. I had an electrician look over my work area in the basement & he thought some overhead fluorescent tubes old be best....given I get charged $1/tube at the local transfer station/dump for disposal, I'm not too keen on fluorescent.

I'm thinking LEDs.
