I think what you guys are looking for is the Shooting Times Annual titled ".45ACP & .223 Autoloaders." It's mostly a buyers guide. You know the format, lots of little pics and very small descriptions. It covers most of the .45ACP pistols (not just 1911's) and .223 rifles (not just AR's) that are on the market today.
There are a couple of articles in the front, one of which I took interest and pride in. That was a 10,000 round report on the Sig P220. Basically, six guys took a brand new P220 out of the box and cycled 10,000 rds of Black Hills ball ammo through it in a day. I was quite impressed with the findings if you can believe what they have to say. I also wonder when the test was done. What they claim was a brand new P220 has an older serial number than my 3 year old P220. And it had the 1st gen grips on it.
Other articles include a 10,000 round test on a Colt HBAR, reviewed a Les Baer Super Varment, and AR15 mods. As for the Pistols some of the articles were about .45 holsters, 2001 Springfield 1911's, New Kimbers, New Wilson Polymers, and the history of the 1911. There are a couple of others.
