| With a Trump victory and a Republican controlled House and Senate... Is now our best opportunity to try to repeal the Hughes Amendment? What do you think our chances are? |
|
Trump may have been elected but that doesn't mean soccer moms are out there demanding machine gun ownership.
No politician is going to risk throwing his career under the bus by pissing off the majority of the population just so a handful of "Gun Nuts" can own machine guns. Honestly we have a lot of work to do just cleaning up the damage democrats did over the last 8 years. |
|
I think maybe they can sneak the hearing protection act through.
Considering how many retards, even gun owners, think a semi auto AR is a machine gun and hate it and the owner, you won't be seeing any easier access to FA than what we have right now. I wouldn't be content, but I'd like to see the firearm related EOs cancelled, and faster processing at the ATF, both of which should be attainable without much backlash. |
|
The big gun bill, in Trump's first year, is going to be about nationwide carry reciprocity. That has pretty strong support. Now if the NRA lobbying arm was smart, they would help draft such a bill so that it included some "obscure" provisions such as repeal of the Hughes Amendment, a window to register historical bringbacks, removal of suppressors and SBR's from the NFA, allowing milsurp imports, etc. Nobody would notice if these were part of a larger bill.

If the argument could be packaged and presented in such a way as to make it something other than "the easy availability of machine guns", then maybe.
If I was in Congress, I'd call it the Defense Industry Research and Development Revitalization Act, and sell it as a law to "encourage small arms development by the private sector via removing prohibitions and regulations stifling development of the next generation of our military's arsenal". I think it could be done and it isn't bullshit, either. |

THIS Tell the fuckers they have to pass it to see what's in it. |

This, but I wouldn't be surprised if we were able to import Russian AKs and ammo again in the near future. Quoted:

I don't know.... trump COULD order a new amnesty... under the guise of getting all those illegal machine guns registered... people would support that.. then you would likely have a million people convert their guns to half assed full auto, lightning links, back plates, etc, etc..to get it legally registered.. hell, id say all you would have to do is CLAIM its full auto, and file paperwork.... then with approved paperwork you could just have it "repaired" professionally. there are a lot of things he could do... a amnesty IMHO is one of the things that would actually be easy to accomplish IMHO. |

0% Once a freedom is taken away like that, retrieving it is next to impossible. Imagine how much ammunition would be required to fill shooting needs for thousands upon thousands of full-auto guns in civilian hands! Looking for jobs creation President-elect Trump? Right here is a Golden opportunity! |
|
The idiots already think anyone can go down to the corner grocer and buy a full-auto Ak-47 without a background check.
Just phrase in a way that makes it look like we are going to apply very strict ownership, registraion & a $200 tax on "new" automatic weapons. They'll be all like, "Yes! Finally! Let's pass this!" and not realize they just loosened the laws on machine guns. Use their ignorance of the law against them. |
