I live in a town home on the second floor. There is only one way to access my unit and that is via the stairs to a small deck area. The deck area is one straight shot so positioning a camera would be very easy, I only need one. Someone has been coming up to my unit during the day when I'm not home. I find the gate open and things moved around as well as cabinets open. I thought about a Trail camera that takes video but I want to be able to view it on my phone. Can anyone recommend something based on these needs and help me catch a nosy neighbor or possible thief?

1 camera only (will be outdoors)

Wireless

Motion activated

Capable of video and pictures

Able to view on my phone

Night vision

The camera will be in range of my wifi but I don't have a PC constantly up and running in the house.

What is your plan for powering it?

For what you need, I'd just get one of those Nest Cameras. Should meet your requirements.

Ring stick up camera should do the trick.

Or you could get one of their doorbells, if the wall faces the area you want video of. Records to the cloud on motion, sends you an alert too.
I have one and am really happy with it.

Thank you. Is your exposed to the elements and if so I assume it's held up ok? Does it have night vision as well?

Big 'ole link

Grab a 6-pack.

ETA: 1 camera? Probably not worth the read.

We use arlo. It works when the internet works and haven't had trouble with it. Glad I bought it especially when we're out of town .

Another vote for Arlo.   Wireless cameras.  View on phone, cloud storage and download any video to your phone, PC whatever.  Geofencing via your smartphone so the system only arms when you are away.  Get text or email alerts whend it detects motion.

For those with cameras outdoors, any of you have below zero temps? I think the Arlo is rated to 14F which could be June in MN.

Mine ran no problems through an upstate NY winter where temps can hit zero or below.

Was it sheltered in anyway? Which direction/exposure are they facing? Thx

Mine are Mounted on porch rails or overhangs around the perimeter of the house. Generally facing north or east. One in particularly was more exposed to the west wind. If you are concerned about weather, you could always build small wind breaks or  shelters if needed.

I've been using reolink from amazon. Great quality day and night, view anywhere from smart phone, records motion onto a micro sd card. I even swapped the sd for a 64gb and usually have two weeks worth of video and I live in a busy neighborhood
