Will you change party affiliation After this election

No. In my state you can only vote your party in the primaries .

Very seriously going to investigate re-register as independent, yes.  The inability to either divest itself from Trump early, or decide to have some honor and stick to supporting him has made me want the entire GoP to suck on a bag of dicks.

I'll be going independent.

Nope not yet unless their view on the 2nd changes.

Meh, I already registered as independent.

The primary is where these things are won and lost.  We lost this time.  If you register as an independent then you have no say unless you think a third party is going to make a real run at it.  Or you can be an independent and just wait for the shitty choices in the general election.

Not everywhere.  Last several years I have been NPA (no party affiliation) and I just tell them what ballot I want in the primary.  I am really sick of the Kelly Ayottes and Lindsey Grahams of the world.

This, I've flopped back and forth over the past 10 years just for primaries.

But I'll be fucked if I ever vote for another establishment RINO.

Hear that Rob Portman? Kiss my ass, you conniving asshole

No.  Your affiliation is determined by which primary you vote in, in Ohio.  I'm not voting for democrats, and there are no other primaries besides Republican or Democrat.

I will register as a "Deplorable" and pepper my angus for a rehab. camp, hopefully close to my family so they can visit me after they disavow any relationship to me.

Absolutely!  Not because of a Trump loss, or even a win.  I will shit can them as my representative party because of the antics of establish Republicans after all the endorse the candidate that wins bullshit and then not upholding their word.  You know, kinda like they uphold their word when they actually show up in house and senate.

I registered no party affiliation when I moved here to Louisiana recently.  Not specifically as a response to Trump's candidacy, but my overall opinion of the Republican Party.

Maybe the GOP leaders will see our discontent with the way Trump was treated.

I was just thinking about this. Why do we even have party registration? What's the point? It just seems like a way for someone to track or dismiss potential voters and provides no benefit to the actual voter.

I went "No Party" back in 2001, even though I am in a closed primary state.  What took the rest of you so long to wake up?

In 1990, I registered as a Democrat when I turned 18.  In 1996, I changed to Republican upon graduating from college.  After being involved with politics at a local/State level, and being disgusted with BOTH major political parties, I abandoned all political affiliation in 2001.  I'm going to let you in on a little secret, even though the politicians are elected by the people, they still see themselves as part of the ruling class and the people who put them in office as obedient serfs.  Sadly, this was at a Local and State level.

I didn't even get involved with the US House and Senate, so I'd hate to see what factor of "us" versus "them" they see themselves as.

No, even if Trump loses, the fact that he was even able to get nominated shows we can use the Republican Party as our vehicle. The last thing I want to do is hand it right back to the insiders after the election.

True. Trumps candidacy has torn the GOP apart. Time for a complete gutting of the party leadership (won't happen) or a new party (also won't happen). So Dem presidents until the fall of the country, so let's get Trump elected!

I changed my registration years ago. I forget if it was McCain or Romney, but I was equally unhappy with both nominations. My registration shows me as Conservative. I see no reason to change it. I do not agree with a lot of the Republican party bullshit, but they are occasionally slightly more tolerable than the Democrats. In truth they're not all that different, much to my disappointment.

Hoping my drop in the bucket might make a difference as futile as that might be.
Lacking a better alternative I would rejoin in order to vote in primaries for next election season.

Virginia does it the right way -- no party registration. You can vote in either primary, but only in one.

In Ohio you can request any parties primary ballot. That makes you a registered Democrat or Republican though. A guy running a third party campaign in a local election found out he disqualified himself when he asked for a Republican primary ballot.
