All of my pictures of legal bucks seem to come between the hours of 11 pm and 4 am.

eta - age is 3-4 years, and yup, I'd shoot.

3-4 shoot it, or give it another year or 2 to get some more meat on the bones.

Has all the markers of being a very mature buck. Maybe 4-5 years old.

But has a small rack. Unless it's a Blacktail Deer in which case it's a nice one.

I'd say 3.5. Eat him.

After you shoot him, you can send a couple of the incisors in to have the growth rings counted like they do when aging a tree.

That's the only way to know for absolutely certain.

Looks to be about 20.  Maybe 25.

I'd lay down some blankets in the garage and let him live his days out spoiled rotten.

Either that or smoke that 3 year old and enjoy your deer steak.

Also what PikeSlayer says.  It's small.  Wait for something bigger.

If his rack isn't well past his ears, i let him walk.

Kind of front heavy. Needs to muscle up in the back. Give him another year.

3 years old probably.

You gotta hunt what you have. Personally I would let it walk for another 1-2 years; but if hunting pressure around you is high and someone on a neighboring property will shoot him, then you'd better capitalize whilst you can.

Lucky.  Deer in my area are like small goats.

The nose has filled in, so he's fully mature.  Good shoot.

Around here that's a good sized deer, not a trophy but no one I know would pass on it unless they were specifically looking for a trophy.

Yup, it's a mature blacktail, and a shooter.

Don't judge it by whitetail standards, that's a prime blacktail.

That's a shooter. And not old enough that the meat would be crap.

If he is legal, to the freezer he would be going?  I do not hunt of antlers and the younger ones are better eating!

Why are you considering shooting it? Do you object to deer living on your property?

That is a Whitetail chart, the Columbian Blacktail deer does not even approach the size of the Whitetail deer.

Why shoot him?  Cause them there is damn good eating.
