Anyone ever make a pin to hold the gas tube instead?

FSB uses taper pins.
My bad, you need a gas tube roll pin, hardware store.

you talking about the gas tube roll pin? in a pinch you can get an assortment of roll pins in various sizes from home depot or harbor freight or something. you'll need to shorten it, or not if its under a handguard.

tiny nail will hold it. Just bend the pointy side so it don't fall out.

Pretty low stress component, a finishing nail should be a suitable temporary fix.

what do you think is so special about the one that comes with the fsb or gas tube (depending on manufacturer)
