Weaver and Pic are not dimensionally identical. The primary use for Pic is for heavy-duty mounts that have larger-than-standard diameter cross bolts.

I've seen some rails with threaded holes through the horizontal base; do some accessories bolt into the rail, in addition to clamping on as scope rings do? Is this something specific to the Picatinny rail?
To broaden the original question, does anyone have a source for long sections of picatinny rail either? |
