You have a 3 and a 5 litre water container, each container has no markings except for that which gives you it's total volume. You also have a running tap. You must use the containers and the tap in such away as to exactly measure out 4 litres of water. Figure it out, no cheating on the web.

It took me about 30 seconds and no I did not use google.  Place the 3l bottle inside of the 5l bottle. This will leave 2 liters of volume inside of the 5l bottle. Fill this empty volume with water and pour the 2l of water into the 3l bottle. Repeat the above steps again until the 5l bottle has 2l in it. Remove the 3l bottle and put its contents into the 5l bottle. You will now have 4l in the 5l bottle.

Use your watch to time filling the 5 litre container, then multiply times .8. Fill the 5L to 4L with a timed pour.

  • Balance in 3 L container is 2L. Note level.

  • Empty 3L container in 5L container.

Sorry. Siri has determined your gender identity for you. It changed your default font color accordingly.

Measure out 4L of water, as in measure it into some unknown volume container?  I so, I interpreted it this way.

Fill the 5L bottle, then pour out that fluid into the three liter bottle, leaving two liters in the remaining bottle.  Pour this 2L reminder nto the unknown container.  Repeat the process once and you'd end up with 4 liters in the final container.

I would fill the 5 L, then pour it off in the 3 L, leaving 2 L left, cut that in half by eye.

Fill the 3 liter and pour it in the 5 liter. Fill the 3 liter again and fill the 5 liter completely. This will leave 1 liter of water in the 3 liter container. Pour out the 5 liter container. Pour the 1 liter in the 5 liter container. Fill the 3 liter again and pour into the 5 liter container. 4 liters.

Fill them 3 liter bottle and then pour it into the 5 liter bottle.

Refill the 3 liter bottle and pour it into the 5 liter bottle until the 3 liter bottle is full (which will take 2 liters). This will leave 1 liter of water in the 3 liter bottle.

Empty the 5 liter bottle and then pour the remaining 1 liter of water from the 3 liter bottle into the 5 little bottle.

fill the 3 liter bottle and pout it into the 3 liter bottle, for a total of 4 liters of water.

ETA: 25 seconds.

Ok, you fill the 3 liter jug full, then put that in the 5 liter jug right?
-Right.
Then you fill the 3 liter jug about a third of the way...
-Motherfucker it has to be exact!!!

Fill the five liter. Pour it into the three liter. Dump the three liter and pour the remaining two liters into the three liter.

Refill the five liter and pour one liter into the three liter to fill it. Four liters remain in the five liter bucket.

All of you are wrong.

Fill 3L bottle. Pour into 5L bottle.

Fill 3L bottle again. Top off 5L bottle. 1L left in 3L bottle.

Empty 5L bottle. Pour the 1L in.

Fill 3L bottle. Transfer contents into 5L bottle.

Exactly 4L in 5L bottle.

Fill 5 liter container, pour from it into 3 liter container and stop.
You have 2 liters in the 5 liter container.  Empty the 3 liter container, and pour the 2 liters of water into it.
Refill 5 liter container, pour from 5 liter container into 3 liter container until it's full.  You now have 4 liters in the five liter container.
