| Thinking about trading my FNX Tac for a TA31 with dual illumination doughnut reticle BAC M16/556. It looks legit, as it has the raised letters and appropriate serial numbers, but no QR code. Does/did Trijicon make these ACOGs without the QR code or might this be a fake? Also the fiber optic is red, but the guy says it has an amber dot. The other guy got in trade and said it was in brand new condition. |

there is a variety of YOUTUBE videos explaining how to tell a real from a fake, not to mention write ups on this board and others. having raised lettering doesn't mean it's legit. I bought a counterfeit for 50 bucks that has the raised lettering on the body, even has MADE IN USA and bible verse raised on it.
comparing that to my real TA01 I found out right fast how to tell without the differences on the body. if I look in the front of the lens inside the body, the real one has nicely milled concentric circles going all the way back. on the fake it's all rough casting, looks almost like fish scales. the Chinese do a pretty decent job of counterfeiting the appearance of it, people still get bit buying them and thinking it's real. but, they (Chinese) don't go through the time and expensive of doing the interior of the body. and why should they? the average person isn't even going to take a look inside it in any event, I would really bone up on how to tell the difference before I would even consider the trade. |

That's good to know, I'll check the interior before I trade for it. |

I would also check the other things as well. do your homework, before you step out the door to the guy. even if you have to write the stuff down. he may have gotten took and doesn't know it. if you find it is a counterfeit, I'm sure of one of 2 things will happen. he'll be pissed about it, or he'll say you're nuts and don't know what you're talking about. either way, at least you won't be stung. |
. Trijicon fixed it on their dime quickly.
