Replaced the valve cover gasket on my 2001 Jeep TJ today, which stopped the oil leak.
Questions: What is a good way to clean up the oil that leaked down the engine/tranny from before the repair?
Thanks.
Gratuitous picture of repair in progress:

2 cans of these. warm engine up and apply all over the place.

Then use one of these. With hose on full blast. Just be careful around wires and intake.

If you're not critical about asthetics... then this.

Providing it's not a super shit-load of oil.

It's wasn't marking its territory before, just smelling like burned oil when it got up to temperature.  The transfer case is looking a bit juicy, however.

OK.  Are you talking about a rattle can of that watery stuff you spray on brake stuff before you repair them?

It's essentially a fast evaporating degreaser, yes.
Just put something under your motor to 'catch' all the mess
You probably don't want an oil slick in your driveway or garage

Thanks.  I've got a gravel driveway area I can use as the grease-dump.  Please don't tell the environmentalists

It's fantastic at finding small cuts on your hands or fingers if it gets on there
