Mother fucking shit. So I'm on team A, fixin' to weather the storm, got out my homeland security items, and my fucking eotech does not seem to be working. I've hardly used it and stored it with batteries out. I think the batteries were dead the last time I had some in them (of course) and checked so I just took them out. Nothing leaked or is corroded, it just doesn't work. My batteries are good, they are new, and I checked them. I also tried different brands. I've had it for a long time, I wonder if it's still under any kind of warrenty. Good thing I'm not LEO or military. Fucking fuck. |

Quoted: FPNI and that's why you have backup irons.... right? Yes, I have backup flip ups on the one, the other only has fixed sites. I just wanted something nice. There are actually people that think you don't need back up iron sites. I'm not one of them. I have old eyes though and would prefer not having to depend on them. I've practiced with them though. |

Quoted:
Aim point r1 here. Has been on setting 6 for over 4 years straight.... I change the batteries on my birthday every other year, just to be sure. Only discovered one dead Aimpoint in a little over 8 years. It was on a rifle that had been to several summer classes where it was kept on a high setting, drained the battery prematurely. |
|
Quoted: Something with terminals, might be able to bend them? I don't think it's the terminals, they don't really bend. There is one contact at the bottom of the compartment, and I checked the continuity, and the other contacts are spring loaded things. I don't want to disassemble and void any warranties. I think it's something in the circuitry. Maybe the switch. It's wierd because it hasn't been used hard at all. Granted some batteries were dead in it but they weren't in there long at all. Come to think of it, maybe the batteries weren't dead after all. |
|
Quoted: OP be stretching credibility to the breaking point given all the bad news about eotech and the massive recall I had heard about that but mine worked when I last used it and I don't shoot that one much at all. Hard to believe it died sitting in a nice room in a safe. I didn't investigate the recall because mine is so old, I assumed the recall was for newer models and mine was probably OK. I assumed wrong. |
|
Quoted: I've seen a lot of people do this believe it or not. Quoted: Quoted: Are you sure you have it pointed in the right direction? I've seen a lot of people do this believe it or not. First thing I thought of. I took it off the rifle and tried it different ways. Its dead jim. |
|
Quoted: just go buy an aimpoint quick and get a refund on the eotech down the road... the cost will kinda even out. Everyone is gone now, too late to get something new. I'll certainly be replacing it with something else. I didn't think the recall affected mine. I should have checked it more often I guess. I just didn't think it would die sitting in a nice safe. |

All eotechs are suspect. Don't be like those dumbasz Galaxy 7 people who traded a old one for a new one. They got BURNED !!! |

I have the manual but can't find the invoice, I have no idea who I ordered it from. I'm usually a reciept hoarder. I even had the box until not too long ago. |

Quoted: Did you lose a spring when you swapped batteries? Seems to happen quite a bit. It's all enclosed, there's nothing to lose. The contacts are mostly enclosed as well. The model is not on the product but I am pretty sure I have model 512. It's pretty simple and hard to mess up. |

Just look up MSRP, if it's wrong, they will correct it for the year of manufacture, and you just resubmit a claim. No receipt required. |

Are you sure there aren't two little springs surrounded by rubber grommets in the bottom of the battery well? I had a 512 and those things were always getting sideways/falling out causing no function. I'm glad I sent that thing back.. |

I had a 512 and those things were always getting sideways/falling out causing no function. I'm glad I sent that thing back.. The bottom of the battery well only has a straight piece of metal in the bottom of the well. The contacts on the optic are enclosed by rubber with only the nubs that contact the battery sticking out, they go in and out as if the springs are fine. I'm still going to fiddle with it, maybe it will work again. I'm thinking it really died instead of my batteries. I didn't store batteries in it because they would go dead quickly. I didn't like that but figured I would just put fresh ones in when I was going to use it so it wouldn't matter. |
