Michael Fassbender Confirms Alien: Covenant Will be Way Scary

Michael Fassbender confirms Alien: Covenant will be way scary
20th Century Fox‘s Alien: Covenant is currently in post-production, and Collider has spoken to star Michael Fassbender to confirm that the crew of the title ship are in for a scary ride in the Ridley Scott film.

“I have to say, this Alien is going to be – I’m really excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying that there’s a film that we all wanna see,” Fassbender stated. “It’s much scarier than ‘Prometheus,’ but it’s got that sort of same scope as ‘Prometheus,’ that imminent sort of disaster feel that ‘Alien’ had. So it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary, number one. And again, with the massive scope of ‘Prometheus’… Yeah, you know once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it’s definitely going to bring chills to the cinema.”

Michael Fassbender (reprising his Prometheus role) stars in the film along with Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), and Billy Crudup (Watchmen). Noomi Rapace is also expected to reprise her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw.

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

I was surprised to see Danny Mcbride cast. I like a good juxtaposition of character actors.

ETA: I'm not happy they're roping it into the Prometheus garbage, though.

That stood out to me as well; he's not really what I picture as an Alien actor and that'll be neat if that goes well. Also, I have such high hopes for this film...just like I did for Prometheus.

I'm a huge fan of Alien and Aliens. Everything after that has felt like a let down in the series.

Ridley Scott made one of the best horror movies ever when he made Alien, making a truly alien creature like nothing we had seen , we didn't know where it came from, we didn't know its motivations it was just a silent predator stalking is prey. Prometheus tried to answer where it came from, what its motivations are and all of that worked against it.

I wish they would of just let Neil Blomkamp make his Aliens sequel that he wants to do. I know he is hated here, but his concept art made it seem like he would handle the material much better than its creator has recently.

The script... oh that script..

The expanded marketing and materials they did for the film, like the fake Weyland TED talk, and other things actually made the script make a lot more sense.  But it was still a turd with the most unrealistic characters since Alien: Resurrection.

I like it for what it is.  All films have some glitches, but when Prometheus was on HBO, when I had it, I would watch it repeatedly.  I also like BATTLESHIP and PACIFIC RIM, as well and can watch either whenever they're on.

Remember this saying:  'critics are only failed artists.'  So take what they say with a grain of salt.

Watch from about 2:40 until a little past 3:10
Ridley says it's going to be "a hard R". Meaning R Rated.
And wants it to be scarier than the first Alien.

This shit is getting way too confusing.

So in the original Alien and Aliens - a ship (the "engineers") crashed on LV426 carrying the aliens.   The crew from Alien just happened to run across their signal, and the rest we know....

I watched Prometheus, but it just didn't seem to mesh with the original movies.

Can one of you guys post a brief synopsis  - how the fuck do the new movies actually relate to the Alien story? (yeah I could Google it, but I'm lazy, and everybody here is a certified genius, unlike Google and Wiki).....

Prometheus establishes the "aliens" on LV426 were actually "engineers" who created life on earth. Ancient earthlings rebelled against them and they left.

The engineers' technology is genetic in nature, and it can break down and alter things into other things. They weaponized that technology and planned to attack earth upon learning we were all still a bunch of douchebags.

Noomie Rapeface and Magneto's head crash the surviving engineer and Rapeface's squidbaby impregnates the engineer with a protoalien.

Rapeface and Magnetohead steal a ship and go to find the engineers.

???

An unrelated engineer ship crashes on LV426 carrying alien eggs, possibly as weapons.

Profit.

...and if you play Aliens: Colonial Marines, there's an easter egg in the derelict ship that shows that two factions of engineers were at war with each other. Mythology was awesome, but the movie itself(Prometheus) was really just a loose rehash of AvP. Motives and sequences play out almost exactly the same up to heroine reluctantly allied with enemy in the end. Mythology was awesome show sucked.

If the non-movie materials are to be believed, the Colonial Marines came into existence in 2101. Prometheus happened in 2089.

So if Covenant happens at least 12 years later then we might see the first batch of Colonial Marines aboard the colony ship.
