Did a quick search and didn't come up with much. If dupe, please be easy.
Went to buy a Hero 4 Black last night and saw the 5 is supposed to be announced on Monday. Some info has leaked that suggests it will be 8k with image stabilization, Bluetooth 4, and cloud uploading capabilities. I don't know that I'll truly need 8k as I'm just s consumer using it to play around on adventures and with my girlfriend. Are any of you experienced GoPro users with input, advice, feedback, etc? When I was snowboarding professionally we'd use them for shots when cameras were at risk and we didn't want to risk a RED. That's about the extent of my experience with them. |

Snowboarding, random adventures, vacations, sexy time with the girlfriend, random fun stuff. I have lacie ruggeds with which I travel to dump footage on. I will be doing some post processing, so the 4K and 8k appeal to me in that I'll be able to do a bit more, with better results.
4K @ 60p would be nice for some slow motion stuff, I think. Right amouth of slow motion with the right amount of current usable resolution. I like the Hero 4, but would like a viewfinder/rear screen for handheld usage when also holding my phone would be cumbersome. |

I'll say what other have said. No need for 4k. But I think it'd be cool to have one of those dual lens cameras that are 3d capable. So you could re-live those fun times in 3d. |

Time Warp is your friend as well. |
| 8k? Haven't heard that one yet. Hell even most TV's are not 4k mainly because there isn't that much programming on it. Pretty sure only DirecTV has 4k programming and only on a very select few channels. Now computer wise you can get 4k and above because of how they are based on resolution not some other name for resolution. Yet the higher resolution monitor you have the more it cost plus that added cost in the video card to do it. Right now my monitor on my computer if you look at it as a TV is above 1080p yet not quite 4k as resolution is just shy of it. Yet my monitor is 10 years old. Still works for what I need it to do so no need to spend extra money for higher resolution. So for the cost of the GoPro just get the Hero 4 and not worry about the newest version that will be double the cost. |

hero 5+ sexy time plus cloud storage equals bad news. SHUT! UP! But really, my 3+ Silver is all I need. When it takes a shit or I lose it (more likely) I don't know what I'll replace it with since the 4's don't appeal to me at all, nor do the 5's from what I just read. Garmin Virb maybe. |

How good do your eyes have to be to appreciate 8k? Aren't the limits of 20/20 vision 6k? A 70mm imax had a theoretical resolution of 18k Yeah, okay, but I guess what I'm asking, is how good do your eyes have to be to appreciate the added detail? After 4k aren't we talking the limits of human vision? |

Depends on the viewing device, obviously. 4K is only the beginning with VR. |

Go with Xiaomi Yi2. Gopro is a waste of $$$ IMHO, much better bang for the buck
4K / 30fps 2.5K / 30fps 1440P / 60fps 1080P / 120fps 960P / 120fps 720P / 240fps WVGA / 240fps Has a decent touchscreen, wifi, cheap batteries, plenty of accessories (and can use all the gopro mounts) |

I'm actually modifying a mount to attach my GoPro to my dog's Ruffwear Front Range harness. Can't find the nice scissors, but found a beer instead; project will probably resume tomorrow. I made several DIY mounts to put it on the dog and finally gave up and bought their Fetch mount. Worth it. |

You won't need 8k. 4k can be a PITA when it come to storage and rendering times. 8k would even be worse. What do you want to do with the footage? If it is for Internet broadcasting, again you won't need 8k. 4K allows you to zoom in and retain 1080 clarity (no pixelation.) 8k would be only more zoomtacular. |

I would hold off on any new GP model. I got an early Hero4 Black and they had a shitload of bugs. I heard that GP rushed it to market in time for Christmas without correcting the software issues. That is the track record, I would hold off.
If you have a problem YOYO, GoPro's tech support is thin and they were hard to get through to in the H4 black days. Give it a few months and read the tech forums and blogs, those guys are the first to know and write about the problems. |

Some 3 bar sliders solve that problem, but you are still left with a something the size of a harness that doesn't function as a harness. I've attached an extra head mount to the Front Range with Velcro straps. As stable as the Fetch, maybe more so. The camera sits lower than on the Fetch. I'll see how it frames things in the morning. |

After dealing with an ongoing problems with my go pro hero 3, I'll never buy another go pro product.
Ran good for about a year and a half than out of the blue it just bricked itself. Tried all the methods to reset it and nothing works. No help from go pro and they won't warranty it. $600 down the drain Fuck go pro. In a market for a new action camera but it sure as hell won't be a go pro. They got me once, never again. While trying to find a solution, it has become obvious that this is a common problem and go pro doesn't really give a shit. |

Can they just manage to make one without fucking fisheye? Uh, click on "remove fisheye" in GoPro Studios. It's like, super fucking easy. With my 3+ black you can change the way it records, too. There's 1080p super wide, wide, and narrow. Narrow has nearly zero perceptible fisheye. |

went with the hero 4 silver over the black when i bought one at the start of the summer. based on spec difference/cost difference. dont know about a 5 but i'll have to see some comparisons and reviews before deciding if its worth to upgrade for what i use them for. |

Are you glad you went with the silver over the black? Do you find yourself using the rear screen? Have you ever wanted "more" from it? |
