So, it is a beer that must be cold to be palatable?

I drink it at basement temp.

I've been known to "crush it like Quint" on occasion.  I like it better than rice-based adjuncts.

I noticed some of the fishermen holding cans of Narragansett during the shark hunt earlier in the movie. When I think of Quint, I think of the beer can scene as a classic next to his USS Indianapolis speech.

Better than Falstaff? The cup that the kid at the beach party at the start was drinking from was a Falstaff cup.

As a commercial fisherman IN Narragansett I don't drink it unless Its all I can find.

If you could actually buy it for $6 for a 6pack of 16oz cans I might but I call BS on that. If not, which packy?

That's what it is in western NY, but it's contract brewed by Genesee brewing in Rochester, NY

I think it's pretty decent for the price. Has a nice toasted bready flavor.

Narragansett was a very popular cheap beer in New England in the 1970s and 1980s. It's crap. They've been selling it at Fenway Park forever. The Red Sox fans eventually found that Schaeffer was more palatable.

Thanks to this thread I picked up a 12 pack at the gas station down the street.  I just had the first one in the shower after cleaning the rain gutters.  It was definitely what I needed and it's good to have a new cheap beer, since I can't find Olympia out here.
