Got my wife a 4.5 hour spa package with a few different treatments like massage and facial and even lunch.

I paid for it, surreptitiously.   But wondering about tip protocol.

Should I give her an envelope  of cash to tip with, or is tipping not necessary?

Depends, does she want a happy ending?

Seems like tipping for the spa is 25% or something ridiculous like that.  The last time my wife went to one she dropped that little nugget on me.  I couldn't believe it.

Tipping is usually expected.

Happy ending? No tip...it's prolly built into the price.

Just a rub? No tip...it's still prolly built into the price, and I def wont be motivated to bend the rules.

But then again, I'm a justa joo that presumes to assume.

I predict this might end up triggering a Pit thread.

25% tip minimum. Good service and it should be even more.

Give her money to tip with. I've never heard of 25% to be honest. People usually tip relative to how good the service was.

Here is the rub:

It is a package, but each treatment is done by some one else (I am pretty sure, because the lady was trying to see if the pedicure person was available on same day as the masseuse,  etc).

So how do you calculate 20% when it is a package price,  but different services and people?

And do you shuttle from one to the next just throwing cash around or wait till the end of the whole deal?

Where my wife works they do packages all the time. The person at the front desk will have the names of the people who performed the services and they also have envelopes for gratuity. Some places have them in the rooms. My wife usually receives tips based on how good the service was, not the price of the service.

Thanks for the info.

It doesn't seem to go with the "relaxing" purpose of the visit to worry about doling out tips.

But I guess that's the nature of th service industry.
