So I'm renovating the house and I went to Goodwill to get rid of crap. While there I see this beat up Blackhawk Recon Chest Rig. It's clearly missing parts. But for $5 you can't beat it. So I buy and and get an old H-Harness from Vietnam era and rig it with an old Level IV plate lying around. I now have a new rig to keep in my truck.   |

True, Goodwill is the most profitable nonprofit in the country. The ceo makes a hefty six-figure income, IIRC. But that said it's one of the best places to get crazy deals. Mine include a TI-86 calculator for 99 cents, a base station 200ch radio scanner for $5, various TV's and flatscreen monitors for pennies on the dollar, an electric wheelchair for $1.29 (tag sale) that I flipped in a week for $140. As for body armor, I found a point blank vest with no kevlar panels but the titanium trauma plate was in it, I think I paid $10.
