It was a great song, and then got played to death. Even 'Stairway to Heaven' hasn't received as much air play as 'Free Bird'. Both of those tunes get switched off as soon as I hear the first chords. There are dozens of other great Skynrd cuts. I'd much rather listen to 'Ain't No Good Life', or 'You Got That Right', for example. |

| I mainly listen to XM or Spotify and none of the channels I listen to play classic rock. So, I might hear Freebird or Stairway to Heaven once or twice a year. Throw in a little Space Cowboy, and I'm nostalgic for hanging out in pool halls from my late teens. Head like a hole brings back the same nostalgia though. |

I have all their albums from the pre plane crash/burn days and a couple/three from after. I started listening to them in 1975 and started buying the records/cassettes in 1976 when I was in the Army.
That is the one song that makes me hit the skip button. I don't know why, I just don't want to hear it. |

Fucking Atlanta radio sucks. @ rock channels and between the two of them you will hear Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and Lynard at least twice an hour. |
