| I got approved and would like to have my interview the day I leave the country, but there are no spots available that day. Nowhere within MN or NE are available either leading up to the trip. Is a walk-in interview a pipe dream? |

Is a walk-in interview a pipe dream? Yes, at least when I got mine. They were strict about appointments even though it appeared I was the only one there. |
| I'll be gone from the 31st to the 13th, but I'm wasting a hundred bucks as there's nowhere near me that I can interview without spending at minimum, another hundred, aside from ORD, which has no spots open. I have almost 12 hours to kill there, for this reason alone. If this wasn't such a last minute trip I wouldn't have worried about it. Oh well. |

Why not have the interview BEFORE you leave and after you've gotten your card? Then you can use it coming back. Mostly because I'm leaving in 16 days. I think it's attached to your passport now and the card doesn't matter as much or at all anymore? You don't need to carry the card with you. Tied to your passport. |

Is a walk-in interview a pipe dream? You can try a walk-in, I did mine at Dulles and they were completely empty when I was there - but I wouldn't bank on that the day of your trip... They do appointments so they can do your background check stuff before you show up, so a walk-in appt would also take longer. My scheduled appt was ~15min. And yes, it's tied to your passport, no need to carry another card, worked brilliantly for coming back from Norway and getting through security BS fast. |

I doubt they'll take a walk in. When I had my interview the agent was well versed on me- he had done his homework. You don't get the GE immediately after the interview. I don't know what the wait time is now. Wife and I did our interviews at Dulles Airport. Sign on the door said "No Walk-Ins". Interviews were on 28 July, and cards came in the mail yesterday (14 August). |

When I did mine I had to drive 90 minutes to a border crossing with Canada. No walk ins, and like another poster stated the guy was prepared in advance to speak with me. The good news is that your number is already assigned and it can be found on your notification letter online. It becomes active more or less immediately after you pass the interview according to the interviewer who did mine. I had the card in the mail in under a week. Give the number to every frequent flyer program you're in, and make sure you use it when you book a flight. It's all about the trusted traveler number. The card isn't important. |

I don't think they issue/have cards any longer; I don't have one and they don't ask for one at any time in the process. I don't know if they even track the interview*; after I was approved (but pre-interview) I went through the GE line, told the officer what was up and he called ahead to the interview office and set me up. It's worth a shot. All that happens in the interview is they ask you to verbally answer the questions asked on the customs forms and show you how to use the kiosk...which is insert your passport and answer the questions. |

So you're promoting open borders for any/all who wish to enter the USA from a foreign country? Quoted:

God, I love living in a free country ![]() So you're promoting open borders for any/all who wish to enter the USA from a foreign country? I'm wondering why I need to be probed so I can bypass the shistorm that is the TSA, I mean that's the real reason people get this when they see people waiting 45-60 minutes in the TSA cattle line. My application took forever to go through because the VA didn't feel like answering their calls. |

TSA Pre-Check is a benefit but for me the reason to get GE was the ability to use the Sentri Lane when driving back from Mexico. |
