So a drivers license who suffice as proof as long as they have her information in the system?
Should I bring mail or something else to prove we are in the same residence?

OP, does you Costco have self checkout?

If so you have nothing to worry about, I've even seen people type a membership number written on a piece of paper into the machine before.  You scan your own card.

And will this guy be coming to the party as well?

Costcos around my area have self check out lanes.  I just flash the card to the greeter at the front door and use the self check out lane. Have no problem even using a credit card with a different name.

What they wont do is let you use someone else's credit card, even if it's the same last name. They can be very tough about it.

Yep.  No way would you get away with it at ours. The checker takes the card and compares your picture.   You'd get in the store no problem, but would get stopped at checkout.

Saw a kid get busted using his parents card at one of the gas pumps a few weeks ago. Granted that was a credit card, but who knows.

State law requires them to let the general public in if they have a pharmacy (and the pharmacy is open).
They've swirched to VISA cards and the particular VISA they sponsor is also your membership card (picture, strip and chip).

Their profit per year is nearly the same as membership fees.  More or less they get their profit up front.

At mine you won't get away with it.  I've seen people stopped for trying.  Just have her put you on the membership

Call and ask if they have a temp membership which allows you to go inside look around and buy something but at a higher price than members. Sams club has this. you tell them you are interested in becoming a member. if you want to buy something its 10% more than members .

if you want to use your wifes card at costco i don't it will work. it might get you in the door,  but most likely they will catch you at the register.  easier to find a freind thats a member and have them go with you to buy the stuff you need

Some of the cashiers care or just like being assholes.  I took my g/f there and as we were checking out we split the order into two as she was going to pay for stuff she wanted.  I checked out and had to show ID.  I then put my card on my g/f's order but when my g/f pulled her card out to pay the cashier flipped her shit and said she would have to cancel the order.  WTF!  I asked what was going on and the cashier told me my g/f needed her own card.  She then said if my g/f swiped the credit card she needed a Costco card with her name on it.  It started getting heated, finally I took my g/f's credit card and swiped it; the cashier was sort of ok with that.

TLDR; it depends on the cashier.  Give them a good story and they will probably be ok with it though.
