I remember a game when I was a child it came on the big floppy disc and it was a story game with no graphics. You had to type in what you wanted to go. For instance it would say,  you come up to a door what do you want to do? Sometimes a monster would jump out and you would have to slay it with a sword or something.
Anyone remember this game?

I don't recall that, but I DO recall Dungeons of Daggorath.  Sounds similar, but had basic graphics.

To this day, I still love that game.

Sorry I can't help, OP.

I remember playing "Zork" and "Knight Orc" on my C64. I was never very good at them.

While I know of those types of RP games, I'm not familiar with them.

When I think "old games", I think this:

This post nails it.  I fondly remember a "hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" text game.

OP, google "text adventure game".

You'll be drinking from a firehose.

Late 90s 'Pimp Wars' MMO was great, too.

I played one like that online called Dragon's Gate, back in the early days of AOL.

They're called MUD's. There are a few that are still online. I think the most popular one right now is Aardwolf. It looks like this:

Anyone remember the old "Star" computer game?  It ran in batch mode.  You'd travel around the galaxy.

Yes, there were tons of text-based adventure games.

I had a few text games for C64. Lair of the Necromancer comes to mind,  along with one about aliens on a spaceship.

I sucked at both

I've been looking for an old computer game lately. I used to play it when I was a youngster, circa 2000-2002.

Anyways, it was a turn based RPG of sorts, sword and scorcery setting. You had like 6 members of a team and you could outfit them with different weapons and stuff. They were wizards, goblins, knights and stuff like that.

Anyone ever heard of anything like that? I don't think it was a D&D game, but I could be wrong. My mom downloaded it for me to play while I hung out at their work during the summer.

Did it come with a scratch & sniff card?  If it did, it was likely Leather Goddesses of Phobos.

Not it. M&M2 is very close, though. The one I'm thinking of may have been freeware.

Is that the one that said "May the Great Bird of the Galaxy Poop on Your Home Planet!!" when you logged off? My younger brother and I used to play a game that said that, or some other variation, in the early 80s when our father would bring us to work with him.

Man, that brings back some memories!

Anyone know where I could find a copy of a game called "grime"? I remember it was on a little flexible disc, and the computer screen was green, not sure what system that would be. Mid 80's time period.

SO like every game made prior to graphic based games?
