Video is worth a look for those who have never seen cowboy action shooting. Looks fun as hell and quite capable for protection.

Do it! I prefer the pistol calibers. .44 mag out of a wnchester pack a hard punch out to 100 yards. I have a few winchesters and couple of brownings. Its import to carry the right arm for the job. This is in case the Sioux rise up again. <a href="http://s245.photobucket.com/user/jhaveyj/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_1919_zpsvgulzsu0.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg78/jhaveyj/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_1919_zpsvgulzsu0.jpg</a> Wow. Nice collection! |

Pretty cool until you have to reload. Then they are worse than a shotgun. I sold my 94/44 not long ago. Both a '94 model and a shotgun require loading through the receiver so I don't get this logic unless you're talking a non-pump or non-semiautomatic version which then you're limited to 1 or 2 shots per reload. |

And I don't have a single group picture of mine all together but, in the spirit of the thread... <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/user/HardShell/media/RWB%20-%20Rifles/Marlin62right.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/HardShell/RWB%20-%20Rifles/Marlin62right.jpg</a> <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/user/HardShell/media/RWB%20-%20Rifles/Marlin189444MAGright.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/HardShell/RWB%20-%20Rifles/Marlin189444MAGright.jpg</a> <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/user/HardShell/media/RWB%20-%20Rifles/January2015fromestatex3_zps0c51aec0.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/HardShell/RWB%20-%20Rifles/January2015fromestatex3_zps0c51aec0.jpg</a> (Only pic of that one above, no solo shot, and I've added a SS octagonal Rossi NRA model since that I don't seem to have a pic of. <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/user/HardShell/media/RWB%20-%20Handguns/HenryMaresLegright.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/HardShell/RWB%20-%20Handguns/HenryMaresLegright.jpg</a> <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/user/HardShell/media/RWB%20-%20Handguns/Rossi44RanchHandright.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/HardShell/RWB%20-%20Handguns/Rossi44RanchHandright.jpg</a> But no lever-action shotguns... yet. That Marlin levermatic, what's it chambered in? |

I think he means it doesn't hold 30 rounds and have a 3 second reload of another 30 rounds. So folks only see guns as a mass combat death machine. A lever gun will handle almost every conceivable home defense scenario. As will a shotgun. |

I love the levermatic action, one of my friends, his stepfather had one in 256 Winmag. I'd love to have one in that caliber, but ammo would be hard to find/reload for. 357 mag cases necked to 25, but heaviest bullets were about 90 grain round nose, and those are impossible to find. Still get about 2000fps out of it though. |
