| At the end of the movie you hear a guy reading what sounds like a last good bye letter. I read somewhere on this board that it was one of the soldiers that fought there reading it. Is that true and, if so, who is it? |

I thank God that we have men like these. It continues today with the "kids" fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan (Don't forget the guys in the 'Stan!). I say "God bless America", and I look around me and see He has. Edited to clarify: I say "kids" with respect as a guy who has retired from the military and is floored by who they are and what they have accomplished. < |
| Well, FWIW, I posted this question over on BHD93.com, probably as close as you'll get to a bunch of experts on the real event and movie. The response that I got was that the letter was read by the actor who portrayed MSgt. Gordon. This gibes with what I can recall of the voice reading the letter. |

Yes, Nikolaj Coster Waldau read the letter and they were able to include it in the movie.. |

The part of Durant's book I enjoyed most was when he listed Shughart's wifes letter to Durant. That gave me chills and I keep reading it over and over. Mr. Shughart and Mr. Gordon are the definition of hero and their families can never be consoled or thanked enough. I just may have to watch BHD again for the zillionth time. What a sad story and at the same time an uplifting, exhilarating one. I am looking forward to getting the "box set" coming out in a few weeks. I requested it for Father's Day...... God Bless all that have served and are currently serving this great country. |
