I have a Goodman furnace and the blower fan has slid down the motor shaft and rubbed the bottom of the furnace has happened twice - I keep re aligning and tightning. Do I need to lock tight the shit out of this or am I missing  something. It seems like a dumb design as it's a pressure fit with with a jam bolt.

Anyonone deal with this before- of course it's hotter then hell today  ?

never had one come loose.   You should be tightening it pretty good not just snug

Is is a square end set bolt or an allen head?

Get a new set screw.  Tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen then tighten the screw.  This will make the cup point of the new set screw cut into the shaft and hold better.

There are knurl pointed set screws that did in.  It is quite uncommon for the screws to come loose though.  Usual issue is not being able to get them loose.
